The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service has introduced a new entertainment tax tariff that will apply to various social events across Ondo State.
A notice seen on Friday by Legal Observer showed that residents organising ceremonies such as weddings, burials, birthdays and other celebrations will be required to pay specified fees before holding such events.
According to the tariff schedule released by the revenue agency, events including burials and weddings will attract a fee of N25,000 each.
Other ceremonies such as naming ceremonies, birthdays, chieftaincy events, graduations, club-organised gatherings and wake-keeps are expected to pay N20,000.
The schedule also indicated that corporate events will attract a higher charge of N50,000, while other events not specifically listed will also be required to pay N20,000.
The notice further directed organisers to make payments through the designated platform by scanning the barcode provided by the revenue service.
