The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has claimed that much of Iran’s leadership structure has been wiped out following ongoing military operations carried out by the United States and Israel.
Trump made the remarks on Friday at the White House during an event organised to honour the United States Naval Academy Midshipmen football team for winning the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy.
Speaking on the ongoing conflict, the U.S. president stated that repeated strikes on Iranian targets had significantly weakened the country’s leadership hierarchy, making diplomatic engagement difficult.
“Their leaders are all gone, their next set of leaders are all gone, and their next set of leaders are mostly gone,” Trump said during the event.
According to him, the situation has left Washington with limited options for negotiation as there are allegedly no remaining officials to engage with at the leadership level in Tehran.
“Nobody wants to be a leader over there anymore. We are having a hard time. We want to talk to them, and there’s nobody to talk to. We have nobody to talk to and, you know what? We like it that way,” he added.
The comments come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following intensified military operations between the United States, Israel, and Iran. The conflict has raised global concerns about regional stability and the possibility of a broader international confrontation.
While Trump’s claims suggest significant disruption within Iran’s leadership, officials in Tehran have yet to formally respond to the remarks. Observers say the evolving situation could have far-reaching implications for global security and diplomatic relations in the region
