Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has reportedly urged United States President Donald Trump to intensify ongoing military actions against Iran, according to a report by The New York Times.
The report, published on Tuesday, cited sources familiar with the discussions who claimed that the Saudi leader described the conflict as a “historic opportunity” to reshape the Middle East.
According to the sources, the Crown Prince encouraged a more aggressive strategy that would go beyond limited military strikes, arguing that only the complete removal of Iran’s current government could ensure long-term stability in the Gulf region.
The alleged discussions were said to have taken place during a series of high-level engagements over the past week, with the Saudi leader reportedly stressing that decisive action against Tehran was necessary to eliminate future threats.
However, the report also highlighted growing concerns among officials in both Saudi Arabia and the United States.
There are fears that further escalation could trigger a wider regional conflict, with Iran potentially targeting critical oil facilities across the Gulf — a move that could significantly disrupt global energy supplies.
