NGX Turnover Drops to N201bn as Zichis Agro, Legend Internet Lead Gainers

The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) closed the week on a negative note, with trading activity declining and key market indicators recording slight losses.

According to the NGX weekly report, a total of 3.95 billion shares valued at N201.31 billion were traded in 359,642 deals over five trading days. This represents a drop from the 8.76 billion shares worth N267.25 billion exchanged in the previous week.

The Exchange also disclosed that the All-Share Index (ASI) and market capitalisation depreciated by 0.12 per cent, closing at 200,913.06 points and N128.96 trillion, respectively.

Financial Sector Dominates Trading

The financial services sector led market activity by volume, accounting for 2.88 billion shares worth N102.25 billion traded in 139,093 deals. This represented 72.94 per cent of total volume and 50.80 per cent of total value traded during the week.

The ICT sector followed with 230.53 million shares valued at N45.17 billion, while the agriculture sector recorded 191.92 million shares worth N6.62 billion.

Top Traded Stocks

Market activity was dominated by Wema Bank Plc, Access Holdings Plc, and United Bank for Africa Plc, which collectively accounted for 1.44 billion shares valued at N43.19 billion in 28,436 deals.

The trio contributed 36.65 per cent of total volume and 21.45 per cent of total value traded.

Top Gainers

Leading the gainers’ chart was Zichis Agro Allied Industries Plc, which rose by 60.72 per cent, increasing from N8.58 to N13.79.

Other notable gainers include:

Premier Paints Plc – up 60.26%

John Holt Plc – up 59.92%

Legend Internet Plc – up 25%

McNichols Plc – up 20.65%

Top Losers

On the losers’ chart, Livestock Feeds Plc recorded the highest decline, dropping 11.73 per cent from N8.10 to N7.15.

Other decliners include:

Fidson Healthcare Plc – down 9.97%

Cadbury Nigeria Plc – down 9.94%

Austin Laz & Company Plc – down 9.89%

Learn Africa Plc – down 9.09%
