A passenger aircraft belonging to United Nigeria Airlines has been damaged following a ground incident at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The airline confirmed that the incident occurred while one of its aircraft, an Embraer 190, was parked at the domestic terminal after arriving from Akanu Ibiam International Airport. The aircraft was preparing for another scheduled flight when the situation unfolded.
According to the airline, multiple aircraft movements took place simultaneously within the ramp area. While one aircraft was taxiing and another executing a pushback, a powerful jet blast was generated.
The force of the jet blast reportedly displaced ground equipment, including a baggage trolley, which struck the parked aircraft. The impact caused damage to critical external components such as the antenna and parts of the forward fuselage near the nose landing gear.
Following the incident, the affected aircraft was immediately withdrawn from service for detailed inspection and safety checks.
The airline reassured passengers of its commitment to safety, noting that efforts were being made to minimise disruptions to travel plans caused by the incident.
