Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports claiming he has stepped aside or retired from active politics, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by his media office, Atiku denied holding any recent meeting with stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the national level where such a decision was allegedly made.
The statement clarified that his only recent engagement was with ADC stakeholders in Adamawa State, noting that any major decision like retirement from politics would be formally communicated through his official channels, not through rumours or third-party sources.
The media team described the reports as part of a coordinated disinformation campaign aimed at misleading the public and weakening political momentum.
It further alleged that the narrative may have been driven by political opponents unsettled by growing efforts to challenge the current administration.
The former vice president urged his supporters and the general public to disregard the claims and remain focused on efforts to reposition the country politically.
