INEC delists Mark, Aregbesola from ADC leadership portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission has removed the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal as National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress.

The electoral body also declared that it would not recognise Nafiu Bala Gombe, who is seeking to emerge as national chairman through judicial pronouncement.

INEC, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said it had suspended recognition of all factions within the party and would not monitor any conventions or congresses organised by groups linked to the affected leaders.

The commission noted that the directive would remain in force pending the final determination of a substantive suit before the Federal High Court.

It explained that the action followed the lingering leadership crisis rocking the party, as well as a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal in Suit No. CA/ABJ/145/2026, which has further complicated the dispute.

Speaking through the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the commission reaffirmed its commitment to neutrality in handling party affairs.

INEC also revealed that it received conflicting legal communications from parties involved in the crisis, a development that has forced it to suspend all official dealings with the factions until the courts deliver a final verdict.
