An autopsy report has revealed that the death of 22-year-old Afro-Fuji singer Destiny Boy was caused by complications linked to drug use.
According to findings, the artist died from aspiration pneumonitis after ingesting harmful substances. Toxicology results showed high levels of drugs, including tramadol and methamphetamine, in his system, which ultimately led to fatal complications.
Destiny Boy, known for blending traditional Yoruba Fuji with modern Afrobeats, passed away under circumstances that initially raised public concern and speculation. This was further fueled by videos circulating online showing his body being transported to a mortuary.
Sources indicated that the case had earlier been submitted to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal review. However, before any directive was issued, the police homicide unit proceeded with an autopsy, which was completed about a week ago.
A consultant anatomic pathologist confirmed the presence of the substances in his body, establishing drug-related complications as the cause of death. The report also confirmed that he died on January 17, 2026.
