The Ondo State Government has commenced the 2026 promotion exercise for over 3,000 public servants across its workforce.
The State Head of Service, Bayo Philip, who inaugurated the exercise on Monday in Akure, said the affected workers had completed the mandatory three-year waiting period and were eligible for advancement.
He noted that the officers had met the necessary requirements and had been invited for interviews as part of the promotion process.
Philip urged the candidates to conduct themselves professionally to ensure a smooth and timely completion of the exercise.
He commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for sustaining the annual promotion exercise, noting that the administration had maintained consistency since assuming office.
According to him, unlike in some states where promotions are delayed or implemented without immediate financial benefits, Ondo has continued to prioritise workers’ welfare.
The Head of Service charged the officers to justify the gesture by demonstrating renewed commitment to service delivery, describing promotion as a call to greater responsibility.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Training, Olufunke Dare-Atunse, lauded the leadership of the Head of Service, attributing the early commencement of the exercise to his proactive approach.
She added that the administration had remained responsive to workers’ welfare and commended the governor for prioritising the well-being of civil servants in the state.
