Ekiti guber: INEC opens portal for recruitment of ad hoc staff

The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

The commission disclosed this in a statement shared via its official X handle on Sunday, noting that applications are open for various positions, including Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers and RATECH personnel.

INEC said the application process, which began on April 25, will close on May 18, urging interested and qualified Nigerians to apply through its designated online portal.

According to the commission, applicants for the position of Supervisory Presiding Officer must be public or civil servants on Grade Levels 10 to 14 or serving INEC staff within the same cadre who are not assigned other duties.

It added that Registration Area Centre Managers must be heads of schools or staff members of institutions or public facilities designated as collation centres, with a minimum of Grade Level 07.

For Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers, the commission stated that eligible applicants include serving corps members, penultimate students of tertiary institutions with basic IT knowledge, as well as staff of Ministries, Departments and Agencies on Grade Levels 07 to 10, among others.

INEC further explained that applicants for the RATECH category must possess strong information technology skills and be available for deployment where required.

The commission emphasised that all applicants must be non-partisan, warning that individuals affiliated with political parties or those who have publicly expressed support for candidates would be disqualified.

It also stressed that applicants must reside in the state of deployment, except for technical personnel.

The recruitment exercise forms part of preparations for the off-cycle governorship election in Ekiti State, where the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, is expected to seek re-election.
