The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that it will determine the minimum cut-off marks for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination at its policy meeting scheduled for May 11.
The board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the meeting will hold at the Body of Benchers Auditorium in Jabi, Abuja.
According to him, the annual policy meeting on admissions will bring together key stakeholders across Nigeria’s tertiary education system to deliberate on admission guidelines and set benchmarks for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Benjamin said the meeting would also feature policy directions from the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, alongside discussions on compliance with established admission procedures.
He explained that participants would include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars and admission officers, as well as representatives of regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission, the National Commission for Colleges of Education and the National Board for Technical Education.
The board added that goodwill messages are expected from institutions and agencies, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps.
Benjamin noted that the meeting would formally set the tone for the 2026 admission exercise, stressing the importance of strict adherence to approved guidelines.
He added that the event would also feature the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards, aimed at encouraging transparency and improving standards in the admission process.
