Adeleke Appoints BOVAS Founder as UNIOSUN Chancellor

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed businesswoman Victoria Samson, popularly known as “BOVAS,” as the new Chancellor of Osun State University.

The appointment was announced on May 10, 2026, following the completion of the tenure of former Chancellor Folorunso Alakija, who served the university from 2016 to 2026.

According to the Osun State Government, the appointment signals the beginning of a new phase of leadership for the institution.

Governor Adeleke praised Alakija for her contributions to the university, especially the donation of the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital to UNIOSUN.

The governor also described Victoria Samson as a respected entrepreneur whose achievements in the oil and gas sector reflect integrity, dedication, and service to society.

Victoria Samson, an indigene of Iree in Osun State, is the founder of BOVAS Oil and Gas Company, one of Nigeria’s major indigenous petroleum marketing firms.

Under her leadership, the company reportedly grew from a single filling station into a nationwide business with over 200 service stations and thousands of employees.

She has also held leadership positions in major petroleum associations, including the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association.

The Osun State Government said her appointment is expected to further strengthen the university’s leadership and support its academic and infrastructural growth.
