The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that it will hold its 2026 policy meeting on Monday to determine guidelines for admissions into tertiary institutions across Nigeria, including the official cut-off marks for the 2026 admission exercise.
In a statement issued by JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the board said the meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Education and attended by major stakeholders in the education sector.
According to the board, the gathering will review and approve admission benchmarks, including the “minimum tolerable scores” for candidates seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education nationwide.
JAMB also disclosed that a delegation from Sierra Leone will participate in the meeting as part of efforts to study Nigeria’s centralised admission system.
The delegation includes Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Education, Sarjoh Aziz Kamara, alongside vice-chancellors Edwin Momoh and Bashiru Koroma.
JAMB said the visiting officials are exploring Nigeria’s admission model as Sierra Leone considers establishing a similar system to improve tertiary institution placements in the country.
The board added that the delegation had earlier visited JAMB headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, where they were taken through the agency’s examination and admission processes.
During the meeting, the Sierra Leonean team is also expected to observe how stakeholders are integrated into Nigeria’s admission system, which JAMB described as a coordinated process involving several institutions and regulatory bodies.
The board noted that increasing admission demand in Sierra Leone has created challenges for its education system, adding that the Nigerian model offers practical solutions for managing large-scale tertiary admissions.
