Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna State, has dismissed reports of a major crisis within the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), describing the situation as a “slight misunderstanding” among members.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Sani said the disagreement within the forum had been resolved and that Hope Uzodimma remains the chairman of the forum.
Reports had emerged last week alleging that Uzodimma was removed as chairman of the forum and replaced after a tense meeting involving governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The reports also claimed the governors’ forum had split into rival camps, with some governors backing Uzodimma while others were allegedly aligned with governors from Ogun and Kwara states.
However, Sani, who serves as vice-chairman of the forum, denied any leadership change and insisted that all governors were united.
“In democracy, people can disagree and later agree. It was not a serious issue but a slight misunderstanding, and it has been resolved,” he said.
The Kaduna governor added that if there had truly been a leadership change, he would have assumed office in his capacity as deputy chairman.
He further assured party members and supporters that there was no division within the forum and expressed confidence that the issue would not resurface.
