The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has invited the Executive Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Ibukun Fadipe, for questioning over the management of Federal Government counterpart grants and the utilisation of intervention funds in the state.
The invitation was conveyed in a letter dated May 19, 2026, and signed by the EFCC Director of Investigation, Abdulkarim Chukkol.
According to the anti-graft agency, the investigation centres on the use of counterpart grants and the execution of projects under the Universal Basic Education Commission scheme in Osun State from 2024 to date.
The commission directed Fadipe to appear at its headquarters in Abuja on May 26, 2026, alongside relevant documents connected to the probe.
Citing provisions of the EFCC Establishment Act, 2004, the commission requested details relating to eight key areas linked to the grants and projects executed under the scheme.
Among the documents requested are evidence of counterpart funding submitted to UBEC for matching grants since 2024, utilisation guidelines, action plans, and records of projects allegedly executed with the funds.
The EFCC also demanded records of contracts awarded under the intervention programme, including letters of award, contract agreements, payment details and bank information related to the transactions.
Other documents requested include payment vouchers, approvals, project status reports and all records submitted to UBEC before the release of funds.
Part of the letter read, “You are requested to report in person with the requested information/documents for an interview through the Head, Procurement Fraud Section, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Commission’s Headquarters, Abuja.”
The development comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the management of public education intervention funds across several states.
