Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the implementation of the revised federal salary structure for medical doctors and other health workers in the state in a move aimed at improving healthcare delivery and boosting workers’ welfare.
The development was disclosed on Wednesday by the Ondo State Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip, during a forum held in Akure, the state capital.
Philip said the approval places Ondo among the first states to adopt the new federal salary package for health workers, describing the decision as a significant step towards strengthening the state’s healthcare sector.
He explained that the government was also planning fresh recruitment into the health sector to address manpower shortages across public hospitals and health institutions in the state.
According to him, the Aiyedatiwa administration remains committed to enhancing workers’ welfare and improving the efficiency of the public service.
The Head of Service disclosed that the state government had already approved about 5,000 appointments into the civil service as part of efforts to strengthen manpower across various sectors.
Philip commended the governor for what he described as sustained attention to the welfare of workers and pensioners through policies targeted at improving productivity and service delivery.
He expressed optimism that the implementation of the new salary structure, alongside the planned recruitment of additional health personnel, would boost morale among health workers and improve healthcare services across the state.
