The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced plans to stage a protest in Oyo State on Monday over the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
NANS President, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, called on student bodies, activists and stakeholders across the country to join the solidarity rally aimed at demanding the immediate rescue of the victims.
According to him, the protest will include visits to affected schools, the Oyo State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS), before a peaceful walk against insecurity in Ibadan.
The victims were kidnapped after gunmen attacked Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire LGA. Reports said seven teachers and 39 students were abducted during the attack, while a teacher identified as Michael Oyedokun was killed.
