Wedding reception disrupts ZLP convention in Abuja, delegates left stranded

Confusion broke out in Abuja on Saturday after delegates attending the national convention of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) reportedly clashed with guests at a wedding reception being held at the same venue.

The incident occurred at Chelsea Hotel in the Central Business District of the Federal Capital Territory, where party delegates had gathered for the convention.

According to an eyewitness, Mohammed Abbas, delegates arrived at the venue only to discover that a wedding reception was already in progress, creating uncertainty over the scheduled political event.

The development reportedly left party members stranded outside the facility as the convention could not commence as planned while the wedding ceremony continued.

Sources said the situation generated tension between some delegates and wedding guests, although details of any physical confrontation remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Neither the leadership of the Zenith Labour Party nor the management of the hotel had issued an official statement on the incident.

The ZLP is led by its National Chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu.
