2027: Kano PDP throws weight behind Jonathan’s presidential ambition

The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has declared its support for the presidential aspiration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, while reaffirming its commitment to decisions taken by the party’s national leadership.

The state chairman of the PDP, Yusuf Ado Kibiya, made the position known during a press conference held at the party secretariat in Kano on Monday.

Kibiya said the state chapter had carefully reviewed the decision of the party’s National Executive Committee concerning Jonathan’s emergence and remained fully aligned with the directives of the national leadership.

According to him, the Kano PDP recognises the authority of the party’s leadership to determine its political direction in line with the provisions of the party constitution and established guidelines.

He noted that the chapter would continue to support initiatives aimed at strengthening the party and positioning it for future electoral contests.

The chairman stressed that the Kano PDP remained committed to working with stakeholders across the country to advance the party’s goals and consolidate its presence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kibiya also urged members to remain united, disciplined and focused on the party’s objectives despite recent political realignments and defections in some quarters.

He assured supporters that the PDP in Kano remained cohesive and dedicated to providing credible democratic leadership.

According to him, the party would continue to champion the principles of accountability, good governance and public service while maintaining its relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape.

The Kano PDP leadership expressed optimism that sustained unity and collaboration among members would further strengthen the party’s prospects in future elections.
