Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has dismissed reports claiming that he plans to leave the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to become the running mate of former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2027 general election.
The speculation emerged after Jonathan was announced as the presidential candidate of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Reports suggested that Mohammed was being considered for the vice-presidential slot on the ticket.
Reacting to the claims, the Bauchi governor described the reports as false and misleading. He stated that his political focus remains on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the APM.
In a statement shared on his social media platform, Mohammed urged the public to disregard any report linking him to a return to the PDP or any vice-presidential ambition, insisting that he remains committed to the APM.
The governor recently left the PDP amid the party’s internal crisis and joined the APM. He maintained that his priority is to strengthen his new political platform and pursue his senatorial aspiration ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mohammed reaffirmed his loyalty to the APM and called on his supporters to ignore rumours surrounding his political future.
