The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will on April 23, 2026, unveil Energise Commercialisation Now, a Federal Government initiative aimed at boosting innovation and industrial growth across the country.
The programme is expected to drive investment, promote local innovation and accelerate industrial production in Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday, noting that the event would run from April 23 to April 25.
He said Kano would host both the national launch and the North-West zonal rollout of the initiative.
“The landmark event will position Kano State and the North-West at the centre of Nigeria’s innovation-driven economic transformation,” Waiya said.
He added that the First Lady would attend as Special Guest of Honour and formally launch the programme.
According to him, the initiative is being spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s industrial base.
Waiya explained that the three-day event would feature a range of activities, including panel discussions on collaboration between federal and state governments, as well as exhibitions showcasing innovative products.
Participants expected at the event include representatives of federal and state governments, research institutions, universities, polytechnics, innovators, startups, investors and development partners.
Traditional rulers, manufacturers and industry stakeholders are also expected to attend.
He expressed optimism that the programme would unlock the creative potential of Nigerians and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
“With the support of key stakeholders, this initiative will harness innovation and create opportunities for lasting prosperity,” he added.
