The Nigeria Democratic Congress has dismissed reports circulating online claiming that results had emerged from its primary elections, describing the information as false and misleading.
The party, in a statement issued on Thursday by its National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, maintained that its primaries were scheduled to hold on May 29, 2026, stressing that no candidate could have emerged before the exercise.
The clarification followed rumours suggesting that activist, Aisha Yesufu, lost in the race for the party’s Federal Capital Territory senatorial ticket.
According to the statement, any purported result currently being circulated did not originate from the party and should be disregarded by members of the public.
“The Nigeria Democratic Congress wishes to inform the general public that our party primaries are scheduled to hold tomorrow, May 29, 2026.
“It is therefore impossible and illogical for any primary results or winners to have emerged when the primaries are yet to take place,” the statement read.
The party urged Nigerians and its supporters to ignore what it described as fake results and unverified claims being spread on various platforms.
It added that only information released through official party channels should be considered authentic.
“We strongly urge the public and all well-meaning Nigerians to completely disregard the fake NDC primary results and false rumours currently circulating. Any result that does not emanate from official party sources should be disregarded,” the statement added.
The NDC further assured party members of its commitment to conducting a transparent and credible primary process across the country.
