Activist and politician Aisha Yesufu has responded strongly to comments made by Nyesom Wike, following his criticism of her performance in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial primary.
Wike, speaking at a political event in Rivers State, reportedly mocked Yesufu for failing to secure the NDC senatorial ticket, arguing that practical politics extends beyond media appearances and public commentary.
Reacting through a post on social media, Yesufu challenged the minister to mention her name directly when criticizing her. She also questioned Wike’s own political record, recalling how he failed to secure his party’s presidential ticket in 2022 and was not selected as a running mate afterward.
The activist further accused Wike of contributing to the decline of his former political party and insisted that she would not be intimidated by his remarks.
The exchange is the latest in a growing war of words between the two political figures as political alignments and rivalries continue to shape discussions ahead of the 2027 elections.
While Wike has remained influential within Nigerian politics as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Yesufu has become increasingly active in partisan politics after years of civil society activism and advocacy.
