A leading aspirant for the governorship election in Ekiti State, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, has shocked his supporters by suddenly turning in his resignation letter as a member and gubernatorial aspirant under the umbrella of the PDP, a leading opposition party in the State.
Fayose, a junior brother to a former governor of the State, Mr. Peter Fayose, who is notorious for his frantic support for the incumbent governor of the State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, finally decided to resign his membership of the opposition party, citing the compromise of the leadership of the PDP as his reason.
He said:
“Good day, gentlemen of the Press. It is my pleasure to welcome you to this press briefing. I, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, today, resigns membership of the PDP.”
“I am using this occasion to formally announce my decision and those of my teeming supporters to resign our membership from the PDP.”
“The decision has become somewhat difficult for us to make as stakeholders of the party in Ekiti State. We are, however, compelled to take it considering the state of affairs within the party.“
“Therefore, I have lost hope in the leadership of the party headed by Ambassador Ilias Damagum and Anyanwu, who are out to destroy the PDP.”
“You don’t need any soothsayer to tell you that both of them are working for the ruling All Progressives. Their actions have hindered the progress of the PDP in Ekiti State.”
“Gentlemen of the Press, credible information available at my disposal revealed that the process of the PDP primaries for the Ekiti governorship election has already been compromised.”
“Whoever emerges as a candidate will not be recognised by INEC to contest against the ruling APC in the State.”
“In view of this, I hereby dissociate myself from this kangaroo arrangement. I urge my teeming supporters and associates to remain calm as I make consultations on my next plan of action.”
THANK YOU.
Signed:
Otunba Emmanuel Fayose
PDP Aspirant
