The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday again failed to hear the case involving Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun over alleged bogus cybercrime charges, as Justice M.S. Liman was absent for the fourth consecutive time.
The repeated delays have continued to raise concerns about the handling of the case, which has attracted wide public attention.
Human Rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, who has been outspoken on the matter, criticised the stalled proceedings, describing them as evidence of systemic failure in Nigeria’s justice system.
“This is exactly why Nigerians are losing faith in the courts,” Sowore said, insisting that the charges against Egbetokun are not only politically motivated but also a waste of judicial time.
Court officials are yet to provide reasons for Justice Liman’s absence. A new date is expected to be fixed for the continuation of the matter.
