A former aide to Ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo, Umar Sani, has dared billionaire business mogul and oil magnate, Femi Otedola, to proceed with the N1 billion defamation suit he threatened against him over daunting allegations of involvement subsidy scandals.
Otedola had fumed with rage on Monday after Sani fingered him as one of the biggest beneficiaries of subsidy dealings under the successive triad governments of Olusegun Obasanjo, Umar Yar’adua and Goodluck Jonathan.
Umar’s insinuation cum revelation followed a call on President Bola Tinubu by Otedola, pressing the president to boldly unveil the subsidy mafias in the oil sector for all Nigerians to see and to crush them under the full weight of the law.
Retorting, Sani dismissed Otedola’s saintly representation, describing it as mere window-dressing and an attempt to be clever by half. He expressed his full readiness to answer to any libel suit Otedola may want to institute against him, reiterating that the courts are always there to entertain citizens’ grievances.
In his words, “The courts are institutions that no Nigerian with a clear conscience should ever hesitate to approach.”
Sani further referred to the businessman’s remarks as a “hypocritical, selective, and convenient rewriting of history.”
