Tension gripped residents of Iyana Isashi, Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, after a young man identified simply as Alex, popularly known as Fleximore, was fatally shot by gunmen days after a heated confrontation at a local nightclub.
The incident occurred around 8 pm last Friday, when Alex was reportedly on his way to meet a friend. Eyewitnesses said two men on a motorcycle stopped him along the road, and one of them pulled out a gun, shooting him at close range.
“He had just returned from work and stepped out again. Suddenly, some men on a bike stopped him and shot him. People heard the gunshot and rushed to the scene, only to find him in a pool of blood,” a resident said.
Alex was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors battled to save his life. However, sources confirmed that he died on Wednesday morning after slipping into a coma.
Community members revealed that the victim had been involved in a serious altercation at a nightclub in the area a day before the shooting. According to accounts, the dispute escalated from a verbal argument into a physical confrontation.
“That fight at the club was unusual because Alex was a calm person who hardly got into trouble. We suspect the attack may be connected to that incident,” said another resident, Quadri.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said she was aware of the report and promised to contact the divisional police officer in charge of the area for confirmation.
Meanwhile, concerns over cult-related violence and gun attacks continue to rise along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway corridor. In a separate incident, unidentified gunmen killed a male passenger in a commercial bus near Okoafo after trailing the vehicle from Agbara.
As investigations continue, residents are calling for urgent police intervention to stem the wave of violence spreading across communities in the axis.
