In a surprising move, the Management of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has announced a significant increase in tuition fees, raising the cost from N400,000 to at least N1.3 million Naira for the upcoming 2025/2026 academic session. This decision, which affects both new and returning students across all faculties, allows for the option of paying in two instalments.

The university issued a statement detailing the harmonised tuition and additional charges, which will come into effect next academic year. The revised fee structure applies to a wide range of programs, including:

Reasons for the Increase
The university management clarified that the fee increase is not intended to deter students but to align with current economic realities and sustain academic standards. Rising costs in laboratory supplies, electricity, facility maintenance, and staff welfare have necessitated this adjustment.
Payment Options and Additional Charges
To alleviate financial pressure, UNIOSUN will allow students to pay their tuition in two instalments:
First instalment (50%): Due before First Semester exams
Second instalment (50%): Due before Second Semester exams
Failure to pay the first instalment will restrict access to school facilities and examination entry.
