Adeleke Lauds Police Over Akinlalu Killings Probe, Insists on Justice and Rule of Law

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has praised the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the prompt response and progress recorded in the investigation of the recent killings in Akinlalu, Ife North Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke expressed satisfaction with the police’s handling of the case, describing the efforts as a demonstration of commitment to justice and peace in the state.

The governor reaffirmed his directive for a comprehensive investigation into the tragic incident, assuring that his administration would provide full support to law enforcement agencies to uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice.

“Justice must be done and must be seen to have been done,” Adeleke stated. “No individual or group, regardless of status or political connection, will be shielded from the law if found culpable.”

He further emphasized the need for the investigation to adhere strictly to due process, ensuring fairness, transparency, and protection of innocent citizens.

“The police must uphold the rule of law throughout the investigation to guarantee justice and fairness. The innocent must not be victimized,” he said.

Governor Adeleke also extended condolences to the bereaved families, reaffirming his administration’s zero tolerance for impunity and lawlessness. He cautioned against any attempt to politicize the matter, insisting that “the law must take its full course.”

He called on all security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), the Amotekun Corps, and other law enforcement bodies, to maintain peace and order across the state while the investigation continues.

“I urge the police, DSS, Amotekun, and other security agencies to ensure calm and orderliness during this process,” Adeleke said, reiterating his administration’s commitment to peace and justice for all.
