Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed his elder brother, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, as the first Emir of the newly established Duguri Emirate in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The appointment was officially announced on Friday during a ceremony held at the Duguri Palace, where the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Aminu Hammayo, presented the appointment letter on behalf of the governor.
Speaking at the event, Hammayo urged the new emir to support government policies and initiatives aimed at fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development across the state.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed expressed deep gratitude to Governor Mohammed for the confidence reposed in him and prayed for divine guidance and blessings for the administration. He also pledged unwavering loyalty to both the Bauchi State Government and the Bauchi Emirate Council.
At the same event, Hammayo presented a similar appointment letter to Alhaji Jibrin D. Hassan, who was named the new Emir of Bununu Emirate. He encouraged the newly appointed traditional ruler to uphold the rule of law, promote peaceful coexistence among diverse communities, and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
In his response, the Emir of Bununu appreciated the honour bestowed upon him and promised to serve the people of his domain with dedication and fairness.
Both appointments mark a significant step in the Bauchi government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen traditional institutions and enhance grassroots governance in the state.
