The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested four suspects, including a young woman, in connection with the murder of Ali Salisu, a resident of Darnawa village in Gidan Kacha, Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ahmad Rufai, the tragic incident occurred on October 4th, 2025, when the victim was lured by his girlfriend, Rukayya Amadu, to a secluded area in the Dabagi bush under the pretense of a private meeting. Unknown to Ali Salisu, Rukayya had conspired with another lover, Hamisu Ibrahim, to rob and kill him.
Upon arrival, Hamisu ambushed the victim, tied a rope around his neck, and strangled him to death before fleeing with Ali Salisu’s red Kasea motorcycle. Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Lawali Abdullahi and Ibrahim Abdullahi, who had received the stolen motorcycle without verifying its ownership.
All four suspects are now in police custody and will face prosecution for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, and receiving stolen property.Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, commended the swift and thorough investigation. He described the case as a painful reminder that deceit and misplaced trust can lead to tragic consequences. CP Musa urged the public to exercise caution in personal relationships and to avoid secluded areas, especially at night.
He also warned buyers and traders to always verify ownership documents before purchasing valuable items like motorcycles or vehicles, emphasizing that ignorance is no defense against criminal liability.
The police further urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, assuring them of confidentiality and reaffirming the commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
