The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered 70 parcels of cocaine, weighing 3.60 kilograms, cleverly concealed inside cocoa butter body cream containers destined for London, United Kingdom. The illicit shipment was intercepted on October 14th, 2025, at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, during a routine examination of cargo labeled as personal effects on an Air Peace flight.
Following the seizure, the agency promptly arrested the cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, who presented the shipment for airfreight. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, a healthcare worker, on October 18, and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, Chief Executive Officer of a travel agency, Mutiu Adebiyi & Co, at his office in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, on October 20.NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the officers for their dedication to combating drug trafficking and urged continued vigilance in the agency’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA).
This successful operation underscores the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug cartels and preventing the exportation of narcotics concealed in everyday items.
This seizure adds to a series of recent interdictions by the NDLEA across Nigeria, highlighting their proactive stance in securing the nation’s borders against illicit drug trafficking and its associated crimes.
