Action Congress (AAC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, has called for the immediate dismissal of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over what it described as an abuse of office following reports that he included his two sons in an official delegation to an international summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Agena Robert Ande, the party condemned Wike’s conduct during the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayor’s Forum, alleging that the minister turned public duty into a private family affair by naming his sons, Jordan and Joaquin, as delegates on the trip.
“We call on President Bola Tinubu to sack Minister Wike immediately, putting an end to his lavish and arrogant style of leadership. Public funds should not be used for personal gain, especially not for family members. This is unacceptable and undermines the trust of the Nigerian people,” the statement read.
The AAC accused the minister of misusing public resources while neglecting pressing infrastructure and welfare needs within the FCT. The party cited deteriorating school conditions, underfunded hospitals, and widespread displacement of residents due to demolition exercises as evidence of poor governance.
“Here in the FCT, there are schools taking lessons under trees, hospitals without medical facilities or drugs, and families made homeless by the same FCT Minister without help. Yet public funds are being used for personal comfort. This is the height of irresponsibility that must change,” the statement added.
The AAC FCT chapter further urged the Federal Government to enforce stricter accountability measures and uphold transparency in public service, describing Wike’s alleged conduct as inconsistent with ethical governance standards.
The call comes amid growing public criticism of the minister’s leadership style, which some civil society groups have also described as extravagant and dismissive of public accountability.
