In a fiery escalation of the ongoing crisis within the Ondo State Security Network (Amotekun), Tope Temokun Esq., counsel for three suspended operatives, has accused Corps Commander Adetunji Adeleye of resorting to manipulative tactics involving sponsored bloggers to discredit the officers’ legitimate push for appointment letters and inclusion on the government payroll.
The three operatives—Abu Taiwo, Akinsipe Victor, and Akinjumi Julius—were suspended earlier amid claims they were backed to undermine, disparage, and divert the corps from its primary role in securing lives and property.
In a pointed public statement titled “Truth Will Prevail Over Propaganda in the Amotekun Crisis,” released today, Temokun lambasted the Commander’s alleged strategy of hiring bloggers to smear the trio instead of addressing their demands for justice and equity.
“It is disheartening that those who should be at the forefront of balanced and objective reporting in the State have cringed and taken sides. The space for fair commentary and responsible journalism seems to be shrinking, replaced by sponsored narratives intended to silence and smear those who dare to speak up.”
He further clarified that it is his belief that:
“All these cooked-up allegations, churned out every minute, began only after the attempt to subdue these courageous officers failed. Intimidation. Blackmail. Force. And now, demonization. These are the old and familiar tactics of small tyrants who fear accountability.”
“For the past two days, upon a mere demand for documentation of appointment, a truth the Amotekun command in the State avoids like leprosy, allegations upon allegations have been brewed. Even hired hands have churned out “crimes” upon “crimes,” forming supposed reasons or justifications for the suspension of the Amotekun Three.”
“But we must ask: Was there dialogue or not? Did senior officers of the Command meet with these same three officers or not? If indeed they were guilty of all these “crimes” now flying around, why were those meetings held? Why meet with “criminals”?”
Temokun then laid out what he described as undeniable facts to counter the narrative:
“The delegation that represented the Amotekun Command in the meetings with the three officers comprised the following:
1. AC Oge Olaniyan
2. AC Ganiyu Olalere
3. AC Adedayo Ogundana
4. AC Sesan Adebayo
5. Akewusola Tajudeen
6. Adegbenro Adesoji
“The first meeting was held on October 17, 2025, at the Senior Staff Club, Alagbaka, Akure, where the delegation sent by the Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, met with the three courageous officers, the same officers who have now been branded as “criminals,” suspended, and declared wanted, merely because the Command felt it difficult to meet their legitimate, simple demands.”
“At that meeting, the officers submitted a 15-point demand to the Commander, duly signed by all three. They also attached copies of appointment letters from Amotekun corps in Ekiti, Ogun, and Osun States, questioning why the Ondo State case should be different.”
“The second meeting was held on October 23, 2025, at the same venue, Senior Staff Club, Akure. This meeting was also organized by the Ondo Amotekun Commander, who again sent delegates to give the three officers feedback.”
“Shortly after these meetings, and upon realizing that the demands were legitimate and just, the Commander resorted to blackmail and demonization. Records do not support this strategy, it is too late.”
“It may be good that some citizens now earn a living through this patronage in the business of demonizing courageous men. It is, after all, a form of empowerment. Let the bloggers take their share. But such propaganda will only help for a while.”
“Indeed, the records are clear and the Commander and his blogger-propagandists are factually undermined by available records.”
“In the fullness of time, truth and justice shall prevail.”
The statement has ignited fresh debate over internal governance in Amotekun, with calls mounting for transparency in handling the operatives’ grievances. Amotekun officials have yet to respond publicly to these accusations.
