Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has called on residents to participate actively in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Speaking at a homecoming event in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, the governor emphasized the importance of civic participation in shaping the state’s future. Addressing a large gathering of supporters, Soludo described voting as a vital instrument of democracy, urging citizens to make their voices heard through the ballot.
“Across Anambra, they say we are the consensus candidate, but your vote is your voice. On November 8, I urge each of you to make that voice heard,” Soludo said. “The impact of grassroots mobilisation cannot be overstated in determining the future of our state.”
The governor also highlighted his administration’s achievements, stating that his government’s programmes have positively transformed several sectors of Anambra’s economy. He urged the electorate to sustain the momentum by re-electing him for continuity and progress.
The rally witnessed strong community backing, with several traditional and civic leaders reaffirming their support for Soludo.
Chief Evarist Ubah described the governor as a “committed leader whose policies have brought tangible development to Anambra,” while Fidelis Okafor, President General of the Isuofia People’s Movement, praised Soludo’s accessibility and responsiveness to community needs.
Another local leader, Ifeanyi Ifemelu, echoed similar sentiments, stressing the need to allow Soludo complete his vision for the state.
The event, which reportedly raised over ₦200 million in donations, served as both a campaign rally and a celebration of unity among Soludo’s supporters.
In his closing remarks, Soludo underscored the significance of Saturday’s election, saying, “Election day is not just about choosing leaders; it’s about deciding the kind of future we want for our children and generations to come.”
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated its readiness for the poll. INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed that over 24,000 ad hoc staff and 540 journalists have been accredited for the exercise across 5,718 wards in the state.
According to INEC, 16 candidates from 16 political parties will be contesting in the election, with Governor Soludo seeking re-election under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) platform.
The commission assured the public of its commitment to conducting a credible, transparent, and inclusive election in line with its constitutional mandate.
