The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has publicly detailed the circumstances that led to the arrest and court arraignment of Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels. The incident stems from a petition received by the police on October 28th, 2025, which accused Samuel and three others of multiple offences including criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police, explained that Mr. Ojeogwu was repeatedly invited by the Metro Area Command for questioning but failed to honour these invitations. Consequently, a court-issued arrest warrant was obtained, leading to his arrest in Lagos and subsequent transfer to Abuja for further investigations. “Upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspect was on November 6, 2025, charged to court for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, and theft. He has been remanded by the court pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions,” SP Adeh confirmed.
The incident has been steeped in personal and familial tension. Regina Daniels herself has publicly accused her estranged husband’s camp of orchestrating her brother’s detention. In a poignant social media post, she reflected on the situation: “Two concluded sworn enemies reuniting with no negative ulterior motive other than their daughter’s happiness. And I dare question God for putting me in this situation?”
Regina further disclosed that her estranged parents have traveled to Abuja in an attempt to secure her brother’s release. Frustrated by the length of his detainment, she vowed, “Sammy’s detainment is taking way too long, but we will get him out even if I have to march there myself and create a storm! Since they want me!”
Despite the growing tension and sorrow, the FCT Police reiterated their commitment to professional policing and due process as the case proceeds through the courts.
In a video release, Regina Daniels expressed her despair and accused the police of bias: “I give up! What was my brother’s offence? Fighting for his baby sister because his in-law would always beat her up? I actually accorded the Nigerian police some respect but shame on you all.”She emotionally described the situation as one where “the highest bidder always wins.”
In a candid and heart-wrenching statement, she said, “Now I’m crippled! I will return if that’s the only way — do whatever he says, get injected to be like a zombie, get locked up and raped in the house. Only then will my brother return. Because by law, there is no tangible case against Sammy West! Ned Nwoko is bigger than the whole of Nigeria, that’s what this means. We lost — or rather, I lost!”
This controversy follows reports of violence and emotional strain in her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko. Videos surfaced showing the actress in tears, accusing Nwoko of physical abuse, with her siblings supporting the claims. Nwoko has denied these accusations, instead accusing Daniels of drug and alcohol use, which he claims triggered violent episodes. Following this, Daniels was seen without her wedding ring and referred to Nwoko as her former husband.
Shortly after these events, her brother Samuel was arrested in Lagos and transported to Abuja — an arrest her family asserted was orchestrated by Nwoko’s camp, a claim the senator neither confirmed nor denied.
As the legal battle and family turmoil escalate, the FCT Police have assured the public of adherence to lawful processes while the matter unfolds in court. The case remains ongoing with Mr. Ojeogwu remanded until he meets his bail conditions.
