Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State appears set for a second term in office, following his impressive lead in the ongoing governorship election. According to results released so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Soludo has secured victory in 19 out of the 21 local government areas announced.
The results show the governor maintaining wide margins over his opponents across all declared local councils, underscoring strong voter support for his administration under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The local government areas where Soludo has been declared winner include Dunukofia, Njikoka, Ogbaru, Awka North, Awka South, Orumba North, Orumba South, Aguata, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Ayamelum, and Anambra East.
With results from Anambra West and Ihiala still being collated, INEC officials temporarily suspended announcements at about 5 a.m. and are expected to reconvene by 6 a.m. to conclude the exercise.
Governor Soludo’s projected victory would make him the third consecutive two-term governor from APGA, following in the footsteps of Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano.
As vote collation nears completion, Soludo continues to hold a commanding lead, positioning APGA for a historic electoral continuity in Anambra State.
