Public calls have intensified for Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, to step down from office following a growing marital dispute with his wife, actress Regina Daniels.
The controversy stems from allegations that Senator Nwoko ordered the arrest of Regina Daniels’ brother, Sammy, who was detained in Abuja after being picked up in Lagos on November 6, 2025.
Amid the uproar, actress Realgina Onu took to Instagram, urging the senator to temporarily vacate his seat to allow for an independent investigation into what she described as serious allegations of sexual coercion, unlawful detention, and substance abuse.
She further called for the intervention of the Nigerian Police Force, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and human rights organizations to ensure transparency and accountability in handling the matter.
The legal and ethical implications of the allegations have sparked debate among citizens and commentators, with many questioning whether the senator’s position could influence the investigation.
Meanwhile, an old video resurfaced online showing Rita Daniels, Regina’s mother, clarifying long-standing claims about her daughter’s marriage. In the clip, she stated that Regina was nearly 20 years old when she married Nwoko, not 17, as previously reported.
The couple’s traditional wedding took place on April 25, 2020, in Delta State, and has since been subject to public scrutiny due to their age difference and high-profile status.
Adding to the controversy, Sweezzy, Regina’s brother, alleged that one of Ned Nwoko’s sons died in the United Kingdom from heart failure and seizures allegedly linked to excessive drug use.
