President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, on his re-election for a second term in office, describing the outcome as a resounding affirmation of his visionary and results-driven leadership.
Governor Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), clinched victory in all 21 local government areas of the state, securing 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. The declaration was made by the State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Omoregie Edoba, at the INEC headquarters in Awka.
In a personally signed statement, President Tinubu praised Soludo for bringing intellectual depth, fiscal discipline, and innovation to governance, noting that his administration has positioned Anambra as “the Light of the Nation” in practice as well as in motto.
“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has proven that knowledge is power and that academic rigor can drive effective governance,” President Tinubu stated. “His administration reflects accountability, transparency, and prudent resource management.”
The President recalled his visit to Anambra in May 2025, during which he commissioned several landmark projects executed by the Soludo administration, commending the governor’s strategic vision and commitment to progress.
Tinubu further urged Soludo to extend a hand of reconciliation to his opponents and to continue fostering collaboration across political lines for the collective development of the state. He also assured the governor of continued support from the Federal Government.
“The victory of APGA once again demonstrates the vitality of Nigeria’s democracy, proving that genuine leadership and performance can secure electoral success irrespective of party lines,” Tinubu added.
President Tinubu also applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under the leadership of its new Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, for conducting what he described as a credible and transparent poll. He called on INEC to sustain the momentum and deepen electoral integrity across the country.
Other candidates in the election included Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), who scored 37,753 votes; George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP), with 10,576 votes; John Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who polled 8,208 votes; and Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 1,401 votes.
With this victory, Soludo becomes the third governor in Anambra’s history to win a second term — a milestone observers describe as both a personal triumph and a testament to his administration’s developmental strides.
