Delta Governor’s Aide Confirms Arrest of Social Media Personalities After Airport Altercation

Two prominent social media figures, Martins Vincent Otse (“VeryDarkMan”) and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi (“Mr. Jollof”), were arrested following a physical confrontation during boarding at Asaba International Airport, Delta State. The incident occurred on United Nigeria Airlines Flight UN0523 en route to Lagos.

Mr. Ossai Success, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, confirmed the arrests, noting that the individuals were removed from the aircraft and handed over to airport security in compliance with international aviation safety protocols.

A statement from United Nigeria Airlines indicated that the altercation arose while passengers were boarding and escalated rapidly, prompting immediate intervention from the airline crew. Both individuals were subsequently taken off the flight manifest pending a review by airline authorities and relevant law enforcement agencies.

Eyewitness footage circulating online depicts the altercation escalating into a physical fight onboard the aircraft, raising serious concerns about passenger safety and compliance with aviation regulations.

Ossai expressed disapproval of the behavior on social media, emphasizing that such conduct is unacceptable in confined public spaces. “I am disappointed in both parties for engaging in violence inside an aircraft. Such actions endanger not only themselves but other passengers. Note: This page does not support or encourage violence in any form,” he stated.

The incident highlights broader concerns regarding airport security, passenger conduct, and legal accountability for disturbances in civil aviation contexts. Legal observers note that such cases may attract charges under national aviation law and could trigger regulatory review by relevant authorities, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
