Residents of Tarah, a remote community in Sokoto State, were left traumatised after a terrifying attack by armed bandits late Tuesday night, resulting in the abduction of nine villagers and the injury of another during a violent raid.
According to local sources and eyewitness accounts, the heavily armed assailants stormed Tarah under the cover of darkness, firing sporadically and creating chaos as families scrambled for safety. “The bandits arrived in large numbers on motorcycles, shooting into the air and forcing us out of our homes,” a resident recounted to Daily Post.
Eyewitnesses further revealed that the raiders rounded up victims at gunpoint before fleeing into the bush. One local man sustained serious injuries after bravely attempting to defend his family from being taken. “They beat him mercilessly when he tried to resist,” another witness said, emphasizing the terror the community experienced.
