An alleged terrorist commander has issued alarming threats against Nigeria, claiming that his group will soon target top government officials, military personnel, and even President Bola Tinubu for abduction. The revelation comes in a video obtained by LegalObserver News, showing the armed militant wearing what appeared to be a Nigerian military jacket.
The militant boasted about recent kidnappings in Kebbi and Niger states, asserting that the Nigerian government has failed to protect its citizens.
“Everyone has woken up. We kidnapped school students in Kebbi State and Niger State. Next time, we will be kidnapping Nigerian military officers and taking them to the forest,” he stated in the recording.
Pointing to his attire, the commander added, “Look at the clothes I’m wearing — they belong to a soldier. Nigeria, in the days ahead, we will kidnap a governor, we will kidnap the President, and others.” He urged Nigerians to seek divine protection rather than rely on governmental security.
Recent incidents underline the growing threat: on November 21, terrorists stormed St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting an unspecified number of students and teachers. Local officials, including Ahmed Abdullahi Rofia, Head of Disaster and Relief for Agwara LGA, confirmed the attack.
Meanwhile, just five days earlier, militants attacked Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Kebbi State, abducting approximately 25 female students and killing at least one staff member. A school guard was also injured during the assault, which took place around 5:52 am as students prepared for their morning routines.
The militants’ actions have left communities in fear and highlighted serious security gaps, with authorities yet to provide assurance on preventing future abductions.
