NSCDC Arrests 11 Suspects Over Violent Attack on Mariri Outpost in Kano

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken eleven young men into custody following a violent disturbance in the Kumbotso area, where a Civil Defence outpost in Mariri was attacked.

According to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Abdullahi, the suspects allegedly became violent shortly after participating in a local traditional festival. They were reported to have moved through the community in groups, assaulting residents and forcibly taking valuables.

The situation escalated when the group allegedly advanced toward the NSCDC’s Mariri outpost, attacking personnel on duty. One officer reportedly sustained a fracture during the incident, which occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Security operatives recovered several weapons from the suspects, including cutlasses, swords, and scissors, believed to have been used during the rampage.

Abdullahi noted that investigative units within the Corps have concluded preliminary inquiries, confirming that all suspects will be presented before a court to face charges relating to assault, malicious damage, and breach of public peace.

He emphasized that under the leadership of Commandant Mohammed Agalama, the NSCDC remains committed to dismantling criminal gangs and safeguarding critical infrastructure across the state.
