The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has imposed a 24‑hour curfew on a troubled community in the state following renewed violence that left residents fearful and disrupted daily life. The clampdown, announced through a government statement, takes immediate effect and restricts all movement in and out of the affected area until further notice.
According to the directive, security agencies have been ordered to enforce the round‑the‑clock curfew strictly, with instructions to arrest anyone found violating the order. The government explained that the measure was necessary to “prevent further breakdown of law and order” after clashes involving local groups escalated into open confrontation. Residents have been urged to remain indoors and cooperate fully with security personnel deployed to restore calm.
Governor Adeleke warned that his administration would not tolerate acts capable of plunging the state into chaos and stressed that protecting lives and property remained his top priority. He also appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders and youth groups to support peace efforts and help defuse tensions. The government said the curfew would be reviewed as soon as security reports indicate that normalcy has returned to the area.
