Some three days after a newly minted lawyer and AAUA graduate, Ajewole Dare Isaac, was kidnapped by gunmen days after being called to the Nigerian Bar in Abuja, calls have mounted for his release.
The Legal Observer understands that Isaac enlisted among the 942 new wigs formally admitted to the Bar at the November 2025 Call to Bar ceremony but had been abducted last week while traveling to Ekiti State.
A source familiar with the incident told journalists on Wednesday that the young lawyer was attacked on the highway while on his way from Abuja to Ekiti.
“He barely survived law school. How will he pay ransom?” the source lamented. “This man that could barely feed in law school was kidnapped last week on his way to Ekiti after his Call to Bar.”
A terse social media post by a former Dean of the Faculty of Law, AAUA, Professor Olugbenga Oke-Samuel, has further revealed fresh details that validated the earlier claim regarding the financial status of the victim, including his capacity to raise a humongous ransom.
The statement titled: “HELP RESCUE DARE ISAAC AJEWOLE FROM THE DEN OF KIDNAPPERS,” reads:
“Dare Isaac was my student in the faculty of law at Adekunle Ajasin University. I know Dare to be a struggling young man. He battled against poverty and wants for years before he could complete his LLB programme in the faculty. As a matter of fact, he could not graduate as at when due because of poverty.”
“He equally had challenges at the Nigerian Law School until he was eventually called to the Nigerian Bar a few days ago. It was therefore heartbreaking to read from the news that this struggling young man was kidnapped on his way from the Call to Bar ceremony around Kabba in Kogi State. As a matter of fact, I know his family members are not in a position to raise money for his release from the den of his kidnappers.”
He, however, appealed to the Ekiti State government for intervention as the young Ekiti man embodies a strong sense of patriotism and belief in Nigeria. This is obviously reflected in his last post on social media, where he prayed that “God bless Nigeria.”
“I’m using this opportunity to appeal to the Ekiti State Government (his home state) under Governor BAO, political leaders, Senior Advocates, public-spirited individuals, and senior lawyers to please help in securing the release of this young dehumanized Nigerian.”
“The last statement that I read on his Facebook platform was GOD BLESS NIGERIA. I am appealing to Nigerians that we should not fail this young man. Let us rise for Dare Isaac AJEWOLE in this moment of his distress.”
