Safana LG Chairman Empowers 1,322 Residents, Gives Vehicles to Councillors

The Chairman of Safana Local Government Area in Katsina State, Alhaji Abdullahi Sani, has distributed 10 vehicles to councillors and provided empowerment support to 1,322 residents as part of a large-scale community development initiative.

The programme, inaugurated on Thursday and attended by Governor Dikko Radda, featured the distribution of work tools, financial support, and mobility items aimed at boosting livelihoods across the LGA.

Governor Radda praised the Safana council boss for what he described as the most comprehensive grassroots empowerment effort he had seen since touring local governments in the state. He said the initiative demonstrated how effective local government autonomy can directly improve community welfare.

According to the governor, the scheme was designed to strengthen small businesses, promote self-reliance and expand economic opportunities among youths, women and vulnerable groups in Safana.

He said efforts like this reflect the type of development that begins at the community level and brings tangible benefits to ordinary citizens. Radda also restated his administration’s commitment to supporting empowerment programmes across all 34 LGAs in Katsina.

Chairman Abdullahi Sani, in his remarks, thanked the governor for facilitating the initiative through timely release of local government allocations.

Items shared during the exercise included sewing machines, grinding machines, noodle-making equipment, motorcycles, a council bus, power tillers and a vehicle for the APC local government chairman. Tricycles were also provided for persons with disabilities, while financial support was offered to women, youths, vulnerable residents and APC officials at ward and LGA levels.

Governor Radda, who has been on an inspection tour of the entire state since November 24, also visited the District Head of Safana, Yariman Katsina, Alhaji Sada Rufa’i, and met with several community stakeholders during his visit.
