Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally joined the Accord Party, just days after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party.
Adeleke made the announcement on Tuesday at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo, where he also declared that he would seek a second term in office under the Accord Party’s banner. According to him, he actually became a member of the party on November 6, following weeks of consultations with political stakeholders and community leaders.
The governor explained that his decision was driven by the party’s focus on welfare and its alignment with his administration’s priorities. He noted that Accord’s philosophy fits his commitment to improving the well-being of workers and residents across the state.
Adeleke told party leaders present at the event that they are now partners in what he described as a mission to sustain progress in Osun. He said the Accord Party would provide the platform for continuity when the state goes to the polls in August 2026.
He highlighted the achievements of his administration in areas such as infrastructure and social services, adding that the state had experienced significant improvements under his leadership. He urged residents across all zones of the state—Osun West, East, and Central—to support his new party.
Adeleke concluded by declaring his intention to run for re-election under Accord, expressing confidence that the people of Osun would back the party in 2026.
