Apostle Johnson Suleman, General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has issued a 48-hour pre-litigation notice to SaharaReporters, demanding a retraction of a viral report and ₦1 billion in damages over allegations linking him to a staged resurrection miracle.
The dispute arose from an April 2025 SaharaReporters publication quoting Apostle Wisdom, a self-described former associate of several Nigerian clergymen. Wisdom alleged in a viral interview that Apostle O.C. Benjamin of Fulfillers House Church staged a fake resurrection using an injection allegedly supplied by Suleman. The report claimed that the substance temporarily made a person appear dead to stage a miracle during a crusade in Abakaliki.
According to Wisdom, the event involved hired actors, a rented ambulance, and a casket, and was designed to mislead worshippers. The claims were amplified online, raising questions about the authenticity of the miracle and Suleman’s alleged involvement.
Suleman’s lawyers, Clement Onwuemunor & Co., argue that the allegations are false, defamatory, and malicious, asserting that:
Suleman has never met Apostle O.C. Benjamin;
He did not supply any substance for use in a staged resurrection;
SaharaReporters failed to verify the claims before publication.
The legal team referenced a video by O.C. Benjamin denying any connection to Suleman and describing Wisdom’s allegations as fabricated.
The legal notice instructs SaharaReporters to:
1. Retract the publication from all online platforms.
2. Publish formal apologies across online platforms and in national newspapers, including Punch, Guardian, Vanguard, Tribune, and Sunday Sun.
3. Pay ₦1,000,000,000 (One Billion Naira) in damages.
The notice warns that failure to comply within 48 hours will trigger imminent litigation, as Suleman’s legal team is prepared to pursue the matter through the courts.
