Carter Efe Emerges Africa’s Most Followed Twitch Streamer After Live Streaming With Davido

Popular Nigerian skit maker and digital streamer, Efe Oderhohwo, widely known as Carter Efe, has become the most followed African streamer on Twitch following a historic livestream with Afrobeats superstar Davido.

The milestone was achieved on Wednesday night after Carter Efe hosted Davido in a marathon three-hour live session that drew massive attention across multiple platforms. By the end of the livestream, the session had amassed nearly five million total views, with Carter Efe gaining more than 139,000 new followers in a single night. His Twitch account surged past the 400,000-follower mark just hours after crossing 300,000, officially positioning him as Africa’s most followed streamer on the platform.

During the session, Davido praised Carter Efe’s consistency and resilience, describing his rise as a product of dedication and hard work. The singer shared personal stories about loyalty, growth, and friendship while actively engaging with fans throughout the broadcast.

One of the night’s standout moments saw Davido recreating album artwork live with Carter Efe and publicly calling for a $1 million Twitch deal for the streamer. He also helped secure a Martell brand ambassadorship for Carter Efe during the livestream, sparking widespread excitement among viewers.

The impact of the broadcast was immediate, with Carter Efe reportedly gaining over 28,000 new subscribers during the stream and briefly surpassing 20,000 active subscribers mid-session, a rare achievement for African streamers on Twitch.

The livestream was simultaneously rebroadcast on other platforms. A Nigerian streamer identified as Perkinsy reportedly streamed the session on X (formerly Twitter), attracting about 458,000 viewers, while Twitch maintained roughly 88,000 live viewers at the same time.

Reacting to Davido’s appearance, social media commentator Jidex praised the singer’s openness, noting his relaxed and authentic engagement with fans throughout the session.
