American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has expressed sympathy following a road accident involving British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in Ogun State, Nigeria.
Paul shared his reaction in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, stressing the importance of life over sport. “Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ, and everyone affected by today’s unfortunate accident,” he wrote.
The message quickly gained traction online, recording over 227,000 views within hours and attracting reactions from fans, fellow athletes, and members of the boxing community.
Paul’s comments come shortly after his recent bout with Joshua on December 19, during which the British boxer defeated him via a sixth-round knockout in a heavyweight contest held in Miami.
Joshua was involved in a road accident on Monday while travelling in Ogun State. Reports indicate that the black Lexus SUV conveying him collided with a red Sinotruck, resulting in the death of two individuals.
Although no official medical update had been released at the time of filing this report, Joshua was confirmed to have survived the crash. The incident has generated widespread concern, with Nigerians and boxing fans across the world offering prayers and messages of support to the boxer and others affected.
